Privacy Policy

Distinctful LLC (“Distinctful,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) makes software that helps entrepreneurs, small teams, and content, marketing, and creative teams plan, create, publish, and measure their content. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices and rights you have.
The short version:
- We use your information to provide and improve Distinctful. We do not sell it, and we do not use it to target ads.
- Your content is yours. We do not use it to train AI models, and our AI providers are not allowed to use it to train theirs.
- We post to your connected accounts only when you publish or schedule a post, or when an automation you turned on runs.
- You can disconnect accounts, delete your content, and delete your account.
Scope
This policy applies to the Distinctful website, app, browser extension, AI assistant connector, newsletter, and support channels (together, the “Service”). Distinctful LLC, a United States company, is responsible for the personal information described here.
When customers use the Service to manage information about other people, such as newsletter subscribers or deal contacts, we process it on their behalf, as “Information we process for customers” explains. Platforms you connect to Distinctful have their own privacy policies, which govern what they do with your information.
What we collect
Information you provide
Your name, email address, password, profile photo, and settings; what you tell us about your business, audience, and goals; the content you create or upload, such as ideas, notes, files, drafts, posts, calendars, strategy, offers, and deals; your Chat conversations; and the messages you send us. You may also add information about other people, such as teammates you invite and contacts on your deals.
Information from connected accounts
When you connect a social, newsletter, calendar, or other account, we receive the information that the features you use need. Depending on the platform, this can include your profile details, access credentials, your posts and their performance, follower and audience counts, and comments and replies on your posts. For newsletter platforms, it includes your publications, your sends and their results, and your subscriber list. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo.
Payment information
Our payment processor collects your payment details. We receive your billing status, subscription and invoice records, and payment results, and we never receive your full card number.
Usage and device information
When you use the Service, we automatically collect information such as the pages and features you use and how you interact with them, your browser and device type, your IP address and the approximate location it indicates, the page that referred you, error reports, and logs, including information from the security checks that protect sign-up and sign-in.
Public information in Discover
Discover helps customers research public content. It shows information that creators and brands have made public on social platforms, such as names, handles, profile descriptions, follower counts, public posts, and engagement counts. We collect only publicly available information, never private posts, direct messages, or anything behind a login or paywall. Creators can ask us to remove their information from Discover by emailing privacy@distinctful.com from an address or account that shows they control the profile.
Browser extension
The Distinctful browser extension sends content to Distinctful only when you choose to save it. A save includes the address of the post or page, its visible text, author, engagement counts, and images, or, for an article, its text and images. To show whether you already saved a post, the extension checks the address of a post you point at, focus, or save against your account. We do not keep those addresses unless you save the post, and you can turn off the on-page Save button for any site in the extension's popup.
The extension keeps your extension settings and any unsent saves on your device so it can retry them, and removing the extension removes them. It uses your existing Distinctful sign-in and does not read your passwords or your accounts on other sites. The extension's use of information complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
How we use information
- Provide the Service: run your account and workspace, sync your connected accounts, publish what you schedule, run the automations you turn on, and power AI features.
- Keep the Service secure: verify accounts, prevent fraud and abuse, and investigate problems.
- Support you: answer your requests and fix problems. We look at your account information only with your permission, or when we need to for security, to prevent abuse, or to meet legal obligations.
- Improve the Service: understand how features are used, measure performance, and fix errors.
- Communicate with you: send messages about your account, billing, and security, product updates, and, if you subscribe, our newsletter.
- Meet legal obligations: comply with the law and enforce our Terms.
We do not use your content to target advertising, and we do not make decisions about you based solely on automated processing that have legal or similarly significant effects. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails or change your email preferences at any time. Messages about your account, billing, and security continue.
AI features
Distinctful's AI features, such as Chat, drafting, research, and recommendations, run on models from third-party AI providers. When you use one, we send the provider your request and the workspace information needed to answer it, such as the relevant strategy, drafts, posts, results, or files you attach. We store your Chat conversations and the content you generate so you can return to them.
We do not use your content to train AI models, and our AI providers' terms do not allow them to use it to train theirs. Providers may keep data for a limited time to detect abuse, under their own terms. Other members of your workspace cannot see your Chat conversations. Nothing is posted to your accounts unless you publish or schedule it, ask a connected AI assistant to, or turn on an automation that posts for you.
Connected AI assistants
You can connect your own AI assistant to your workspace, and you approve each connection. A connected assistant can read your workspace and take the actions you allow, such as saving ideas, creating drafts, planning posts, and scheduling or publishing posts you ask for. It cannot see your Chat conversations.
What an assistant reads is sent to that assistant's provider and handled under the provider's terms and privacy policy. We record connector activity, such as which assistant was used, the action it took, the outcome, and timing, to operate, secure, and improve the connector. These records do not include the content of the assistant's requests or results. You can see and revoke connections in Settings at any time.
Data security
We protect personal information with encryption, access controls, and monitoring, as our Security page describes. No system is perfectly secure. If you believe you have found a security issue, email security@distinctful.com.
How long we keep information
We keep personal information while your account is open or as long as we need it for the purposes in this policy. We then delete or de-identify it, unless the law requires us to keep it longer or we need it to resolve disputes or prevent abuse.

How to delete your data
You can delete individual items in Distinctful at any time. To remove a connected account, disconnect it in Settings, under Integrations. This deletes its stored credentials, cancels posts scheduled for it, and, where the platform supports it, asks the platform to revoke our access. Disconnecting YouTube also deletes the YouTube data we store. You can also remove Distinctful's access in the platform's own settings, such as your Google or Meta account settings. To ask us to delete information we received from a connected platform without deleting your account, email privacy@distinctful.com.
To delete your account:
- If you have a paid subscription, cancel it in Settings, under Billing, and wait for it to end, or contact us to delete your account sooner. During a free trial, you can delete your account right away, which also cancels the trial.
- In Settings, open Account and choose Delete account.
- Confirm the deletion.
After you confirm, we block further activity on your account and begin deleting it. We delete your account information, content, connected-account credentials, and synced data, and then the files you uploaded. Deleted information can remain in our database restore history for up to seven days.
Deleting your account does not remove posts already published on other platforms, so delete those on each platform. If you cannot sign in, email privacy@distinctful.com from your account's email address and we will help.
Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- know what personal information we hold about you and get a copy of it;
- correct inaccurate information;
- delete your information;
- object to or restrict certain processing;
- withdraw consent where we rely on it;
- opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information and of targeted advertising, none of which we do; and
- appeal our decision on a request.
You can make many of these choices directly in Distinctful. For anything else, email privacy@distinctful.com from the address on your account. We may need to verify your identity before we act, and we respond within the time the law requires. You can use an authorized agent where the law allows, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights. To appeal a decision, reply to our response. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Information we process for customers
When customers use Distinctful to manage information about other people, such as newsletter subscribers, deal contacts, or people who comment on their posts, the customer controls that information and we process it on the customer's behalf. We do not contact those people for our own purposes.
If your information is in a customer's workspace and you want to access or delete it, contact that customer, such as the publisher of a newsletter you subscribe to. If you contact us instead, we will pass your request to the customer where we can.
US state privacy rights
In the past 12 months, we collected these categories of personal information:

We collect this information from you, from the accounts you connect, from our service providers, and, for Discover, from public sources. We use it for the purposes in “How we use information” and disclose it only to the recipients in “How we share information.” We do not sell or share personal information, including that of people under 16, and we use sensitive personal information only for purposes the law permits without a right to limit it. “How long we keep information” explains retention.
International users
If the GDPR or UK GDPR applies to you, we process personal information to provide the Service under our contract with you; for our legitimate interests, such as securing and improving the Service, preventing abuse, and supporting research of public content in Discover; with your consent where we ask for it, such as for our newsletter; and to meet legal obligations.
Distinctful is based in the United States, and we process personal information there and wherever our service providers operate. Where the law requires, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers. Contact privacy@distinctful.com for information about the safeguards that apply to your data.
Google user data
If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo to create and secure your account.
If you connect Google Calendar, Distinctful requests read-only access to your calendars and events. We use calendar names and colors, and event titles, times, status, and links, only to show the calendars you choose alongside your content calendar. Distinctful does not create, change, or delete calendar events, and it fetches event details to display them without saving them as workspace content. Calendar credentials are encrypted and used only by our servers. Disconnecting Google Calendar removes them, and you can also remove Distinctful's access in your Google Account settings.
We do not sell Google user data, use it for advertising, or use it to develop, improve, or train generalized AI or machine learning models. Google Calendar event details are not sent to Distinctful's AI features or to connected AI assistants, and we keep event titles, calendar names, and event links out of the interaction data our product analytics collects. We do not let people read your Google user data unless you give us permission, it is needed for security, or the law requires it. Distinctful's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
YouTube data
Distinctful uses YouTube API Services to connect the channel you authorize, upload and schedule the videos you choose, confirm publishing results, and show channel analytics. We store your channel's identity and profile information, encrypted access credentials, the identifiers and links of videos you publish, publishing results, and channel analytics. Your video files and publishing choices are sent to YouTube when you publish, and Google handles that information under the Google Privacy Policy.
We do not sell YouTube data or use it for advertising. We use it to provide the features you use and share it as described in “How we share information,” including with anyone who has a shared link you create.
You can disconnect YouTube in Settings, under Integrations. Disconnecting asks Google to revoke Distinctful's access, cancels scheduled YouTube posts, and deletes the YouTube data we store, such as your channel details, published video links, and YouTube analytics. You can also revoke Distinctful's access at any time in your Google security settings, and we delete that data within 7 days. To ask us to delete YouTube data we store, email privacy@distinctful.com. Deleting data from Distinctful does not affect your videos or other data on YouTube; use YouTube Studio to manage them.
Children
Distinctful is intended for adults. You must be 18 or older to create an account, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us personal information, email privacy@distinctful.com and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We update this policy as the Service and the law change. If we make a material change, we will tell you by email or in the Service before it takes effect and update the date at the top of this page.
